Wildlife Watching
Insh Marshes is one of the most important wetlands in Europe. With ospreys, lapwings, goldeneye ducks, hen harriers, spotted flycatchers, tree pipits, redstarts and great spotted woodpeckers all frequently spotted in spring or summer. The winter sees mallards, teals, whooper swans and geese arrive.
Some 500 species of plants have been identified on the RSPB reserve. There is a sign posted RSPB reserve car park situated off the B970, half a mile beyond Ruthven Barracks. From here there is access to hides; an information viewpoint and a trail, all permanently open.
