Hill Walking

Alvey House is within a 1 hour drive of over 50 Munros. Hill walkers and Munro baggers will find this a great base for roaming into the mountains.  There are also numerous walks from the house, including full days out (3 Munros from the house) and shorter signed routes such as the Wild Cat Trail.

Due to the central position, a base in Newtonmore means you can go North, South, East or West to catch the best of the weather. If the weather is less than favourable there are many local low level alternatives you can access.  Bring your boots and you will get out and about.

For the winter enthusiast, the Cairngorms are 30 minutes away as is Creag Megaidh.  Ben Nevis is 50 minutes away. The recent fantastic winter conditions have made Scotland a winter wonderland. The Northern Corries offer unparalleled winter climbs and views.

The recently created Long Distance Path, East Highland Way connects Fort William with Aviemore.  Newtonmore is one of the suggested stop over points as the way passes through Glen Banchor and into the village.

Should you require guiding this can be set up for you with one of the local providers.  Pour over the maps and books in the residents lounge for inspiration.

As keen outdoor enthusiasts ourselves we can offer advice on many of the local hills as well as routes further afield.
